Welcome to Majestic White Shepherds, USA... Home of Champions and Grand Champions!

Welcome to Majestic White Shepherds.

We are a small White Shepherd breeding family situated in Upstate NY, on a 7-acre property surrounded by mountains and wildlife.

Our mission is to enhance the White Shepherd breed by creating a 5-generation line of disease-free White Shepherds, WS, and White Swiss Shepherds, BBS. Our objective is to produce healthy dogs, both physically and mentally, that can live long, disease-free lives, making them excellent companions, service, or competition dogs. We prioritize health and temperament, breeding only healthy dogs that can pass on desirable traits, such as a solid temperament, correct conformation, and excellent pigment. Our dogs undergo DNA testing and are non-carriers of detectable diseases. Only those dogs that pass our health and temperament tests are incorporated into our breeding program. My affinity for this breed was inspired by my mentor, Scarlett Sanders of Foxhunt White Shepherds. I owe much of my knowledge, hands-on experience, and successful first breeding in December 2016 between Lusty and Lumi to her.

Foxhunt Lust for Life

is my first love, and he sparked our interest in learning about the evolution of this breed. The White Shepherd's history is indeed an evolution, as they were not initially intended to be a separate breed. Politics and the Parent Club's definition of beauty led to the White Shepherds being ostracized from their original breed, the German Shepherd dog. The German Shepherd's creator, Captain Rittmeister von Stephanitz, purchased a dog that embodied his ideal working dog traits: intelligence, strength, endurance, loyalty, and beauty. In 1899, he found these qualities in Horand von Grafrath, whom he renamed Hektor von Schwaben, declaring him the first German Shepherd dog. Stephanitz founded the Society for the German Shepherd Dog and bred Hektor with other suitable mates, including white dogs. This photo, taken from his book Der Deutsche Schaferhund in Wort und Bild (1911 edition), depicts a long-coated, white German Shepherd dog.

The caption translates to "long-coated stock German Shepherd dog." I believe this is how the white, long-coat gene was introduced to the German Shepherd breed. Over the decades, the German Dog Club and the American Kennel Club (AKC) have disqualified white-coated dogs from conformation and beauty competitions. However, thanks to the efforts of a dedicated group of breeders in the USA, Canada, and Europe, the White Shepherd survives today. In Europe, it has become a distinct breed, recognized as the White Swiss Shepherd (BBS) by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). In the US, the AKC still considers them white-coated German Shepherds, while the UKC and AWSA recognize them as a separate breed, simply called White Shepherds. Since the USA is not an FCI country, imported BBS dogs can be registered as White Shepherds with the UKC and AWSA or as German Shepherds with the AKC. The history of the White Shepherd is fascinating and controversial, and I will elaborate on it in greater detail elsewhere. For now, I invite you to get to know us.

Nearly a decade has passed since I first introduced Majestic White Shepherds, and we have grown steadily, remaining committed to our mission. We breed White Swiss Shepherds (BBS), FCI-registered litters, and White Shepherds, UKC-registered litters. All our dogs are Grand Champions, and some hold multiple working titles.

Ven and the Majestic Pack.
